My boyfriend and I decided to spend New Year’s Eve in York. I always forget how lucky I am to live so near to such a stunning city. The quaint little streets of York are even more beautiful when decorated with twinkling fairy lights and doors adorned with festive wreaths
We stayed in an Air BnB just a five-minute walk from the breathtaking York Minster, it was cute, cosy and had everything we needed for a little break.
We got wrapped up and went out for a wander, to my surprise the streets were really quiet and peaceful. I love walking around York, looking at all the different shops and cafes in little nooks and crannies.
Of course, there’s the world-famous Betty’s Cafe! There’s a Harry Potter themed shop nestled away in ‘The Shambles’ aptly called ‘The Shop That Must Not Be Named.’ You can watch fresh fudge being made through a vintage sweet shop window, or even grab a Yorkshire pudding wrap for lunch complete with all the trimmings.
My boyfriend was super thoughtful and packed a bottle of Champagne (along with snacks, sweets and chocolates you know for emergencies) So we picked up a gorgeous meal deal to enjoy in our little apartment, we had cheese and tomato tarts, with legs of Lamb, minted potatoes and Lemon Tarts for dessert, delicious. We found a little pub on a quiet street corner, had a few drinks and played a quiz game on our phones (yes we are a little bit sad and competitive) Okay, well I am. 
It was so nice to spend some time chilling out with my favourite person after the stress of Christmas. There was no one else I’d rather ring in the New Year with. Have you visited York? We got gifted two lovely Ivy vouchers for Christmas, super excited to eat there, we just need to decide which one we want to visit. I hope you all had a lovely New Year’s Eve!

York is so magical this time of year! My partner and I usually go the end of January and have a wonder around the streets at night it’s so quiet and you come across so many cute shops! xox

For a second I thought you spent the New Year in New York, and I was like, hey I just made a day trip there yesterday! haha. I haven’t visited York before but the city looks so charming, and I know that I’d love to check out the Harry Potter themed shop :3 I’m also surprised that the city wasn’t buzzing with the holidays, but perhaps everyone was spending it in with loved ones! York is so lovely at Christmas, it looks like you had the best time! Me and my boyfriend also packed a little too many ’emergency’ sweets for our New Year trip to Edinburgh, but how many Percy Pigs are too many?😂

Happy new year!! York is my happy place and I go at least once a year, I love that it’s a city break but it always feels so chilled and everyone is so friendly! I took my oldest daughter in mid December last year to go round the market and see the lights it was definitely York at its most beautiful!!
I loved reading this post and it’s made me so excited to go back in April
