So, if you haven’t been following me over on Instagram lately, you may not know that I recently moved to Leeds to be with my boyfriend, we are renting together for now. (Without going into too much detail any PR’s or brands reading this you can still send things to my old address – I can pop back and collect them or you can send me an email and I will send you my Leeds address if needed.) After a few weeks of settling in, we finally have our apartment how we want it, well the living room at least. I’m not sure if we are allowed to share the before pictures but it looks like a different apartment after this little living room makeover.
We fell in love with the huge sash windows in this place, there is so much natural light.
We also have resident squirrels and a family of foxes, so cute.
It has been fun playing around and experimenting with decor styles (well as much as rented accommodation will allow!) keeping things bright with pops of colour in places, bringing the outdoor in with some plants, mixing up different textures. We are slowly but surely making the place feel like home! As we have wooden floors, we bought our navy and cream rug from Dunelm it makes the room feel cosier. Wooden floors can be cold, especially in the winter, this is lovely and soft and somehow makes the space feel bigger. Obviously these things take time, but it is so nice to have one room almost completley finished, we just need a floor lamp and some fairy lights and that should be this room completley finished. Our coffee table was such a good find, we went into TK Maxx on the way home just on the off-chance and we couldn’t believe it was down from £119.00 to £39.00 all because one of the legs was wonky, easily fixed by screwing it back in correctly. It is a little different but we love it, such a statement piece I think it warms up the room and contrasts well with the white furniture. I couldn’t resist buying some marble alphabet coasters from Matalan for just £3.00, I think they look much more expensive.
The majority of our furniture is from Ikea, as it’s cheap quick and easy to put up. We didn’t want to buy expensive investment pieces that might get damaged in the move when we buy together. It can be hard to put your stamp on a place as decorating is limited when it comes to renting but we love it so far.
What do you guys think of this living room makeover?
