Every now and again I realise just how lucky I am to live so close to the North Yorkshire moors.
Today was one of those days.
It was such a gorgeous January morning, a layer of sparkling frost on the ground and the sun shining, I pulled on my red hunter wellies, threw on my coat and bobble hat, then Oscar and I got in the car and headed to Osmotherley.

Osmotherley is such a picturesque little village, I loved looking at all the quaint stone cottages, the doors decorated with incredible christmas wreaths! The village was full of dog walkers (the best kind of people in my opinion) hey – not like I am bias or anything. Wink, wink.
I love being out in the countryside, the views, the fresh air, the peace and quiet, it makes me feel so happy.
We walked up the road to the lake, also known as Cod Beck reservoir.

After a long walk, exploring in the fresh air our legs (and paws) were beginning to get tired.
We headed back to the village and spotted a pub called The Three Tuns, I was so pleasantly surprised for a small local pub, it was full of friendly local faces and they were still serving food, hallelujah! We sat by the roaring fire, I loved that they were so happy to have dogs in their pub, it makes such a nice change.

Oh boy, this cheese-burger was seriously good.
What January diet? I regret nothing.
All washed down with an ice cold Diet Coke, why does it always taste that much better right from the glass bottle?
Full to the brim we got in the car to drive home.
I stopped off to give this beauty some polo’s, Oscar wasn’t a fan!
I had such a nice day with my favourite four legged friend, the countryside is so uplifting, it can be really easy to take these things for granted. In 2017 I want to appreciate the little things more. So today I appreciate how close I live to the North Yorkshire moors because it is a beautiful place to be.
Happy new year to my lovely readers.
I hope this year is full of happiness, good health and good fortune! xo

Your neighbourhood is so beautiful! I live in Hong Kong so I don’t get views like these. I’m envious!

This was such a beautiful post, Becky. I hope you’ll do more like this in the future. It made me feel so at peace just reading it, seriously calmed a bit of my anxiety. I sure wish I lived near the English countryside (or even in the UK!). Here in California, it’s so hard to find a corner of peace and quiet unless you go up in the wilderness mountainous area and that’s nothing but nerve-racking especially when driving.
Sounds like you’re off to a good 2017. And btw, that burger? Makes me want to jump right through the screen and gobble it down, hehe! 🙂

I just went on a morning snow walk today and it was soooooo nice. The peace, the quiet, the cold, it’s nice.
This was an absolutely lovely read! Perfect for a wintery Friday morning, I absolutely love the English countryside!

I knew you lived up north but didn’t realise you were near Osmotherley – so close to me! I love this area, it’s so gorgeous and definitely photogenic – you got some lovely snaps 🙂 Plus your burger looks amazing!
This is the cutest place ever!
My Grandparents lived in North Yorkshire before my Grandpa passed away, and it’s one of my favourite places. I really miss not having an excuse to go up there any more – it’s so beautiful. It looks like you had a really lovely day with Oscar 🙂
