Now that there is a chill in the air and the dark nights are drawing in, I have started to change-up my skin care for the autumn / winter weather. My skin is drier, due to the cold winds and all the central heating, my lips are a little more chapped than usual and I find then ‘dry out’ quicker. So here’s what I have been using on my skin lately, to help keep it feeling smooth, soft and hydrated ready for winter.
Rodial super-food facial oil.*
Oh how I love this oil. I tend to only use it on my forehead, where I have a few very fine lines due to dry skin and where an acidic acne cream thinned out my skin too much in my teens! After a week of solidly massaging 2-3 drops of this oil into those fine lines every evening they are looking so much better, it is so nice to see such blatant direct results from a product. I tend to not use it on the rest of my face as it is very rich for my oily (yet sometimes dry) cheeks and nose! I feel like I am giving my skin a well deserved, long-awaited drink, it feels soft, hydrated and just really nourished. I keep meaning to find out if they have a hand cream available in this range too!
Soap and Glory 6-in1 energizing radiance serum.*
I have been using this term most mornings, as it’s lighter than the Rodial oil, so I prefer to use this before I apply my make up for the day. As all things Soap and Glory this serum smells amazing, a beautiful fruity scent. This applies really smoothly onto my skin and absorbs super fast which is always a bonus in my book (forever being impatient with letting products soak in!) When the product comes out of the tube it’s like a white pearl coloured serum. This really does brighten my complexion, even out my skin tone and make my large pores a little less visible which is no easy task, trust me! I like wearing this even on days I don’t wear make up as it’s great for the ‘my skin, but better’ kind of look.
Nivea Hydro care lip balm.
I am forever buying lip balms, expensive ones, high-end ones, etc. You get the gist. I spotted this Nivea on in Tesco and I absolutely love it. It was £1.55 and it’s one of the best I’ve used. Yes it’s up there with my Chanel baume. I have chapped lips all year round, they are even worse in the winter. Whilst I am drinking a lot more water than I ever have, I still need something that nourishes my lips and keeps them soft, kissable and hydrated. Besides, have you ever tried applying a remotely matte lipstick onto chapped lips, it isn’t a pretty sight. At just £1.55 I think I will buy another one (make that 10.)
Renewed hope in a jar eye cream – Philosophy*
I have a real obsession with eye creams, I don’t know why. I guess I’m just paranoid one day I will wake up with tons of eye wrinkles, and whilst there’s nothing wrong with eye wrinkles, I’d prefer to prevent them happening to my peepers for as long as possible. My mum always used to tell me off, stop dragging you eyes, stop pulling at them, stop rubbing them, the skin is so delicate! I think that is where the obsession with looking after them now comes from. I like to slather this all around my eye area before bed. Side note: always listen to your mother because she’s (probably) always right.
What do you think of my winter skin care favourites? Do you use any of these products if you have any skin care favourites of your own that you think I might like please feel free to write them in the comments 🙂 I’m always on the look out to try new things!
