Eating better
I eat terribly. I love white bread, lots of cheese and share size bags of maltesers to myself. I realised that I have to stop these ridiculous, quick, easy, awful eating habits. I feel bloated, sluggish and just not good. So I have decided to change, starting small as I want this to be a overall lifestyle change, not a fad diet that I’ll give up on after about 4 days. I’ve started by eating fruit and yoghurt for breakfast instead of nothing, or sugary cereal bars. I’ve found arranging fruit on the plate, or putting it into a small jar helps me, it makes me interested in what is actually on my plate, I don’t know why but it just does. No more fizzy drinks, instead I’m trying to drink fresh orange, or water. I’m trying to eat more salads and vegetables in my main meals too. Like i said…small steps first as i want this to be a lifestyle change.

Exercise
I have joined a gym, with my mum. We’ve also been taking the dogs on really, really long walks. To keep myself interested in going to the gym I’ve been trying to find ‘cute’ gym wear. I also needed to buy a pair of trainers, I don’t think I could have found pink-er or brighter ones, but I love them. I found that simple silly things like, nice trainers, cute gym tops give me motivation to actually want to go to the gym. I always really enjoy it when I get there and I feel amazing afterwards, it’s just getting my bum off the sofa and to the gym. I bought these trainers from asos link here if you’re interested. What do you think?

Keeping Motivated
Slow progress, is better than no progress right? I’m not saying I’ll never eat chocolate again because I will. I just want to be healthier and feel better in myself. I instantly feel happier, in my mind picking something healthier over something bad to eat, simply because it’s convenient and quick. I know it’s a given for most people but, music really motivates me. Thank god for Spotify on my iPhone. I also think I’ll feel even more motivated when I start seeing results in my body and also in the way I feel.
I’d just like to say, these are my personal tips and things that I have found that have helped me, in attempting to be healthier. I’m not dishing out advice as I’m no expert in any of this whatsoever, probably the furthest thing from it. But maybe a lot of people can relate to that? I’ll keep you updated.

I've been trying to be a little healthier too, I absolutely love those trainers! I've been going for a run a few nights a week & trying to eat fruit over chocolate/sweets/crisps! (:

I am literally in the process of writing a similar post myself! Gym gear and good music is toootally the way forward. I've also found that classes are fab. Although scary at first it's like having a personal trainer, but cheaper!
Would love you to check out my recent sportswear post here.

GOOD going with everyone at their postings on getting in gear! I agree with having good music. And changing up your music. I also agree with having the classes. I think I made some of my greatest of friends from the dance classes that I recently joined! We all have the same goal, after all!

I love your pink trainers Becky, they are so cute! I've been trying to eat healthier and do more exercise lately too but pizza is my biggest enemy in failing though haha! 🙂 xx

I'm loving your trainers I totally need to get myself a pair of those! I can totally relate, it's taken me a good few years for "healthy" to become a habit and exercise become routine but it's totally worth it as I never really knew how unfit I was until I became healthy and now I feel super! xoxo
the fruit yogurt breakfast looks amazing , your shoes look so nice too love the colour 🙂

Recently, I've been trying to eat healthier and do more activity too. I've started to do my workout for 30-40 minutes about 5 times a week and I can say that I'm lovin' it! It do not only affects my body but also helps me to get out of my routine and clear my mind, while I'm doing it. In addition, I try to make healthier choices with food and I really enjoy finding new healthy meals and snacks, that are truly delicious!

I've been jumping on the breakfast bandwagon with some fruit and yogurt as well (like you, I used to skip the meal a lot). I've been sticking with it for a few weeks now, and hoping that it will become part of my daily routine without having to think about it soon. Love your pink sneakers, cute gear always helps with my gym motivation!
Sounds like a good plan and much better than starving yourself. I've decided that if I can go to the gym 3 evenings a week then I don't have to be too strict on myself. Also trying to avoid coke but its so hard! Porridge for breakfast is a good way to get through the morning without feeling hungry, then nibbling on carrots and hummus at 3pm when the tiredness sets in and I'd usually be leaning for the biscuits.
Good luck – keep us updated 🙂

I joined a gym 18 months ago, whilst I was still on Citalopram for anxiety. Needless to say, a few months later I was off the Citalopram, at the gym 4 days a week, my anxiety was pretty much non-existent and I was as fit as ever. It'll soon become habit and you'll wonder why you never did it before. Also – my fav gym clothes are by Lululemon – check out the website! xxxx
If you're really craving fizzy juice mix soda water with fresh orange or some diluting juice – gives you the fizz you're craving but without the bad sugars and preservatives!
Well done you, best idea ever is to make manageable changes because faddy diets never last! 🙂

I think small steps are the way to go. Also, I think people don't realize that a nice pair of kicks can really motivate you to get up and out! Goals are great too – I just signed up for my first half-marathon and my only goal for that is to finish so I am training now!
Its all about starting right? baby steps. Love all these pictures. Good luck with the healthy journey.

Good for you lady! I'm exactly in the same place, trying to concentrate on baby steps. Going to order myself some new running trainers soon. Very exciting! Good luck! x
I have the same for breakfast – yoghurt, fruit and granola its so yummy! xo
I absolutely love the trainers! I'm really glad to see others adopting the healthy lifestyle!

I've had bad eating habits just like you! I would skip breakfast then have a slab of chocolate mid-morning. Then a biiig bowl of pasta for lunch and a huuuge burger for dinner. But I've changed all that and have also starting having breakfast now and trying to eat more salads and veggies. And also I've started drinking green tea – it helps a lot! I love the trainers you got! 🙂

I'm trying to make better choices at the moment too- I'm not in the shape I would like to be in because I just keep eating the wrong things, and my body is getting used to the extra exercise I've been doing. I need to step it up! New running clothes may be on the cards for me too…!

another tip would be to always keep some sort of food on you (like nuts etc) to stop you from eating something super unhealthy when you're out and really hungry. love those nike sneakers! x
I feel motivated now! 🙂
Small steps are the easiest way, helps you to get into a better lifestyle without even realising that you are doing it! x
Such a great post Becky, I too am trying to do the same at the moment, it makes you feel so much better! 🙂
Just what I needed. I love working out but Im too lazy. And I have terrible eating habits, though I love organic, healthy, fresh food. I just never make time for it… But someday starts today, heh 🙂

I so wish I could lose my sweet tooth, it's my biggest downfall – I'll eat a healthy meal but then crave something sugary. And as for exercise, I used to be a complete a gym freak but ever since I've had the condition I have, I'm such a lazy bum – preferring to cuddle up on the sofa with something sweet and a cup of hot chocolate, as opposed to going for a walk in the fresh air. Need to find some motivation from somewhere so I can be a toned bride in July.

I actually found this extremely inspiring, i'm trying to do the same thing, eat better, workout a little, but it's always really hard to find the motivation do go to the gym, and i do like a fat cheeseburger!!
But like you said, small steps, baby steps even, are better than none… good luck dear!

I love your blog, it's so nice to read about every day life things rather than constantly seeing the same beauty product review (not that there's anything wrong with that) just nice for a change. If you ever get time I would love it if you could check mine out 🙂

that smoothie looks delicious! small steps are always better, sounds like you are doing everything right!!!! it's very motivating to see others making changes.
my tip is to do your exercise early in the morning/right when you wake up! even though I always feel tired waking up and the thought of exercise seems impossible, once i have some coffee and start my workout, i always have SOOO much more energy then I would later in the day working out. it may seem like a weird concept, but trust me, it works! good luck on your whole new healthy adventure! xx

I don't eat that great either… I need to get back in the gym. I really love your pink gym shoes! I am so with you on having cute gym wear!

I started slowly transitioning into a healthier lifestyle a few years back – these days I eat so much better, am in much better shape, and feel so much better for it! Keep it up!
PS: Cute shoes! :p

These are wonderful tips, and definitely in line with what we teach our patients. It's called the "small changes method" – we create and discuss a plan, break it into manageable steps with the patient (to determine what he/she finds doable within their schedule and physical limitations), and then do lots of follow-ups.
Hi, this foto are very nice, Can I ask you, where you make foto, I think in what is programme where you arrange foto. Thnak you for answer on blog stale-in.blog.cz
Sounds like you're doing really well trying to get healthier. It's better to do it slowly and make lifestyle changes then just do a quick fix diet. I love the trainers, they're amazing! XxxX http://thesecondhandrose.blogspot.co.uk

Good luck with getting healthier – great that you're looking at it as a complete life overhaul, rather than just a fad.

Good luck on your healthy lifestyle journey! Personally, I don't have much trouble with eating healthy, but the gym… I just can't motivate myself. I am definitely someone who needs to be outside to get a workout done, but that's rough during winter. I do have to agree: cute workout clothes are oddly motivating 🙂

100% that slow progress is better than no progress! Something is better than nothing and small changes add up to eventually become big changes. My boyfriend is a personal trainer and has taught me that something is always better than nothing. I did the same thing with my shoes- I found a super cute pair so I feel motivated to wear them!

I have been off the exercise/healthy eating band wagon for awhile. However, a couple of weeks ago I finished reading an inspirational book titled, " Get Balanced, Get Blissed: Nourishment for Body, Mind, and Soul" by Lynne Goldberg which has inspired me to change my ways. I am back! I have decided to go back to tracking everything I eat and will attend at least 2 zumba classes per week- I love classes over workout machines any day. http://liveblissnow.com/
I've been trying to exercise/eat right for the past month it was going so well but today I hit a brick wall and ate all chocolate in sight but your post has inspired me to get back up again and keep going because the benefits of doing so are huge – so thank you!
