I had some spare time to kill between meetings recently whilst I was up in Newcastle, so I popped into The Great British Cupcakery! After seeing their delicious creations on Instagram, I was so excited to pay this parlour a visit. They offer sweet and savoury options from cupcakes, to afternoon tea, waffles and sandwiches. Every inch of this place is Instagram friendly, from the giant flower walls, to the blossom tree in the corner, yes you read that menu right, a pink latte…. dreamy
For a weekday afternoon the cafe was very busy, I can see why it’s a popular place, next time I’m back in the area I would love to try something savoury or even their afternoon tea. This time we ordered a cupcake each and shared one of their giant waffles. I opted for the double chocolate cupcake with rainbow sprinkles and my friend chose the strawberry meringue cupcake, both were delicious. My boyfriend would probably call me a cupcake connoisseur; I am happy to report the sponge wasn’t dry whatsoever and the buttercream was good! It took all of my willpower to not take home one of those rocky road brownies or a slab of salted caramel and chocolate shortbread.
Look at that waffle, yes that is candy floss you can see, as well as chocolate sauce, pink hearts, chocolate-dipped strawberries, meringue kisses and popping candy. Not to mention two scoops of chocolate and strawberry ice cream you know, for good measure.
I only wish this cafe was a little bit closer, although my bank balance can’t say the same because let’s face it… I’d be in here all the time. I love that they always do a slight theme alongside their dreamy pink aesthetic, with balloons and decorations for Valentine’s Day and Easter for example!
If you are ever in the area be sure to check out The Great British Cupcakery, perfect for a quick bite to eat or a catch up over a pink latte.

This looks like my kind of place! But then again, anywhere serving cake and hot chocolate is my kind of place haha!
Oh wow this looks like somewhere I’d LOVE to visit! I’d go for a pink latte and definitely a waffle after seeing that photo! It looks absolute divine.

Considering how small is the remaining piece of banana cake, it must be really good!
