What it claims –
Clinically proven, safe and effective hair removal at home for both men and women, using intense light pulse technology with five intensity levels. The hand held device sends pulses of light which is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle below the skins surface, which suppresses hair growth. Treatment times – two full legs (42 minutes) Two lower legs (21 minutes) bikini line (3 minutes) full bikini area (5 minutes) two underarms (3 minutes) That will deliver exceptional results, the same technology as used in clinics and salons with results lasting up to six months. I can’t lie, I was a little sceptical at first.
How to use –
I noticed that in the instruction manual it states that only certain skin types can use the I-light pro. It stated that individuals with white, ivory, tan. beige and light brown skin tone can use the I-light pro device. Simply because if your skin tone is too dark, the device cannot distinguish between skin and hair. Therefore the device will not work, as the device works best on very fair light brown to dark brown hairs. Not white or red hairs as these coloured hairs are too fair for the light to pick up against the skin tone, so please do check before buying. This is boldly stated on the box at the side though.

You are advised to shave the area, before using the device to treat unwanted body hair, and initially perform three treatments every 2 weeks and then use it only as needed. I have used this twice so far but I will be coming back and adding to this review after a few more treatments. Here’s my initial thoughts.. I’m impressed after just two uses!
pros –
- quick, simple and very easy to use.
- I experienced no pain, just slight warmth and noticed a very mild vibration at times.
- Very noticeable difference in slow regrowth / patches on my underarms, which I didn’t expect after just two uses, very impressed.
- The device is corded, so it doesn’t need charging to use.
- It comes with a facial attachment that I’m yet to try due to having very fair hair on my upper lip
- Fairly expensive initial price, but cheaper than regular trips to the salon for the same treatment.
My mum and my brothers girlfriend are even thinking about buying their own after seeing the results on my underarms after just one use. I’m weirdly excited for the next couple of treatments to see optimum results! Since not being able to completely shave under my arms properly, whilst still receiving wound treatment it has affected my confidence a lot. So this is perfect for me, I’m pleased with the results so far! I am very grateful for being introduced and sent this easy, pain free product, after an awful experience getting rid of unwanted body hair with razors.

This is really interesting, cant wait to see how you get on with it.
I use an epilator – but it hurts like hell. This looks great x
Debs
Thanks, I've never tried an epilator but a few of my friends have said how painful that is haha not for me x
This does sound like a good product, especially if you hate shaving often and are too scared to get your bits out in a salon (me)!
http://abigailalicex.blogspot.co.uk
That's exactly what I'm like. I just wouldn't feel comfortable, I wish I could but this is why this product is great if you aren't brave enough to bare all in a salon haha xx
Stuff like this really scares the heebijeevies out of me, but similarly, after shaving my armpits, I found a small lump from an ingrown hair too, thankfully, I caught mine very early and got it treated but shaving to this day, panics me. I guess this might be looking into, thank you for this!
Simply-Abbi xx
I can totally relate! I panic every time after shaving even though i refuse to use a razor on my underarms now as, I just can't bring myself to do it after such an ordeal. Its left me with a giant scar for life on my armpit (when the wound eventually heals) but its also definitely left me with some psychological problems too. So razors on my underarms are a no go for me. Im glad you caught yours early 🙂 x
Wow I didn't know ingrown hairs could end up being so horrible! I hate shaving and mostly epilate now but I've had some laser hair removal professionally in the past and it's great. I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with this in the long term. x
This sounds great – i'm always scared of these types of devices as i'm such a wimp when it comes to pain! Does it definitely not hurt? Might give it a try 🙂 xx
I've always been interested in getting a device like this, just never sure if the price will be worth it! Looking forward to your update post! Can't wait to see the results long term 🙂 xxx
I'm due to receive a similar product in the post soon and I'm so excited to see the results! The cost of waxing, shaving tools and epilators really adds up of the years so the initial outlay is nothing comparatively. It helps that this IPL kit looks nice too. xo

I'm always abit sceptical with these sort of devices and the damage the machine can cause, good to hear they actually work, might look into one of these!

Hi Becky, sorry to hear about all your sufferings, but how great that you are on the mend and have discovered laser! I bought this one about 5 months ago… http://www.boots.com/en/Philips-Lumea-Precision-IPL-hair-removal-SC2002-01_1222643/ and it has officially surpassed my Christmas card list and is now my best friend! ;0) I have virtually no hair growth under my arms, on my bikini line or face! I haven't attempted my legs yet, but will do soon! I have naturally dark and thick hair and I am in utter disbelief that this has worked so well. They deserve tlc and a little time, but the results are brilliant. Good luck with it! Emi x

Wow! I might have to check this out. I wouldn't mind shaving so much, but I'm super prone to ingrown hairs.

Well done arctlie that. I’ll make sure to use it wisely.
I love the fact that there is no pain! HaHaHa That makes it a winner in my book.

I'm excited to hear your thoughts once you have used it for a little long. I might have to pick one up for myself as I'm prone to getting ingrown hairs.
Really interested in trying this?

This sounds amazing, I currently use an epilator, which is great, but does lead to ingrown hairs! After reading your story I may need to check this out instead! x

That's what I'm paranoid and afraid of at the moment -ingrown hairs! Well, ingrown hairs becoming infected not worth the risk at the moment to me anyways! x
I might have to give this a shot, it's probably worth a try and anything has to be better than going to a salon ha! x
Can't wait to see what you think of this later down the line, it's so expensive but if it works I wouldn't hesitate in getting one myself – not having to worry about regular shaving and waxing would be a dream x
This sounds brilliant… I definitely am one of those 'awkward people' who could never go and get my legs or bikini line waxed in a salon, so this would be ideal! If only I had a spare £450, if only, if only! I'd love to see how you get on with this further down the line. xxxx
haha me too and I will be doing an update ill tweet the link in future 🙂
This sounds fabulous and just what I need Becky, thanks so much for the recommendation and write up on this product, I dropped you an email by the way 🙂

Sounds pretty good. I have always been struggling with hair removals. Right now I am using a Braun device but it kind of is a pain in the but as it taked loads of time to do & to be honest, it hurtss!!
Planning on buying this instead and do it the simple way.
Thanx for another great post!!
Check out my blog as I am having a little giveaway going on right now.

Wow this sounds like magic, only wish I could afford it. cant wait to hear more down the line…
Thanks for this review! Sounds like a good way to remove hair 🙂 Your abscess ordeal sounds awful, glad it's getting better! 🙂 xx

this sounds like a great idea. i'm really not a fan of shaving as the hairs grow back so quickly, i epilate my leg hair which i find really easy, the smoothness lasts for ages and my hair is so fine now! i had a similar problem with my armpits where i had blocked pores which became infected due to the amount i shaved them, luckily it went away on it's own and didn't end up in A&E! the things us girls have to go through ay?! look forward to hearing an update on this 🙂 xx
This sounds pretty good! I have also had an abscess from an ingrown hair. It took months to disappear and now I've been left with a scar! Shaving really does cause some issues but I can't be without it x

This sounds like something that I would like! The skin on my body is so dry so shaving isn't the best thing for me but it is pretty much the only way I have taken of body hair. Great review xo

I've always been intrigued by hair removal systems! Can't wait to hear how you get on using this one 🙂

Wow, I did not know ingrown hairs can be that horrible! I'm always concern about ingrown hairs but thankfully I never experienced it (knock on wood!). I started using an epilator for my legs since shaving it ever 2 days or so in the summer time is too much of a hassle (I'm a lazy bum), and I'm just socially awkward and scared as hell to get waxing done at salons. These in home laser removal devices always intrigues me but my only worry is the whole hair colour warning thing :/ and the price of these machines!
Ugh I hate hair on legs/armpits, like why do we
girls have to have them anyway. Anyway, this
thing sounds really awesome, tho I think the
price is indeed pricey.. xx
I also got an abscess from an ingrown hair but luckily got it sorted with antibiotics pretty quickly, yours sounds horrible, poor thing! I epilate my legs but its a painful experience! Have had a couple of sessions of ipl in a salon but am seriously considering putting this on my Christmas list!

I bought a similar machine last year but it was the Boots branded one. Think it cost about £400 but I absolutely love it. I used it 4 or 5 times last year before falling pregnant this year (meaning I can't use it) and the results have been great. The main place I used it was my lower legs and I barely have to shave them at all now and when the hairs do grow back they are finer and lighter than they used to be. I used it on my underarms a couple of times and there are definite 'gaps' where it's worked but I think it needs a few more uses to really tackle that area.
It's definitely a very time-consuming process, it would take me an hour just to do both my lower legs, but in the long run I can see that it's going to be worth it.

Does this work in the same way as nono! ?

I Want ♥ Never Gets
I really hope this keeps working for you, would love to see an update 🙂 I bought the Boots Smooth Skin one a few years ago now and I apparently need to use it 12 times for it to be effective & i didn't see any results in the first 5-6 uses so I have no motivation to use it! I really need to keep at it for longer, think I will now! 🙂
This is really interesting – cant wait to see how you find it in the next few weeks. Hair removal is the bane of my life – wish we were all hairless! haha.

Really interested to see how this works out, I've considered buying one for myself for ages but been wary because of the price tag! Have an epilator but it's just too painful/scary to keep using haha. Hope it goes well!

This looks great! I would definitely like to try! I paid for Laser Hair Removal at the Harley Medical Group and after brilliant results, I'm eager to remove even more of my unwanted body hair from other areas. Can't wait to see your updated post.
