Our Anthem Of The Seas Adventure.

Tom and I drove down to Southampton, for a 2 day event an adventure on Anthem Of The Seas, which is Royal Caribbeans brand new spectacular smart ship ‘the most technologically advanced ever‘ and the third largest in the world. It has a whole range of world class dining options to suit even the fussiest of eaters, high speed Internet (yes, really) with state of the art technology and entertainment galore, here’s what Anthem Of The Seas has to offer and a little bit of what we got up to whilst on the smart ship…

Our room and boarding the ship…
Boarding was quick, simple and easy, we had already checked in online before we arrived, so we were in our stateroom in under 15 minutes. The sea view on our balcony was amazing, I loved laying in bed, being able to look out to sea, watching boats and the world just sail by. We were given wow bands, which opened the room door and you can also use these to make purchases on boards the ship. Our stateroom was spacious, with a huge comfy bed and an amazing power shower. For staterooms that don’t have balconies, they have virtual balconies, so, so cool. There was also tons of incredible up to date movies to choose from on the T.V, perfect for children or if you just wanted to chill out and watch a film, we were spoilt for choice! Big Hero 6, The Hobbit, John Wick and many more.

Dynamic dining and dinner with a view…
Anthem of the seas has 18 restaurants on board, something to suit absolutely everyone even the fussiest of eaters (trust me!) On the first night we dined at the American Icon Grill restaurant, we were taken to our seats and we couldn’t believe the view. Tom had Asian style duck with wok seared vegetables and hoisin sauce, it was the best duck I have ever tasted. For dessert we both had warm cookie dough in a skillet topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce, amazing. Amazing food, amazing views, it felt so special to have a sea view whilst we ate dinner, little touches like that leave such an impact.

We ate breakfast and lunch in Windjammer Marketplace on deck 14, we were spoilt for choice, food as far as the eye could see. An amazing global buffet, fresh fruit, pasta’s, pizza’s, desserts an entire station of fresh bread, bagels and an amazing selection of fillings, pick and mix cereals, desserts galore. I loved the fact that before entering the restaurant there was automatic hand sanitisers, and a hand washing station with automatic soap dispensers and taps. The word ‘buffet’ does not do it justice, whatsoever the food was incredible, something for absolutely everyone, whatever you may fancy. LOOK at those cakes…

Spectacular entertainment
Sometimes when you’re away from home you can miss those little home comforts like high speed internet and your xbox… Anthem of the seas has an Xbox room, an entire room of Xbox one’s. With Royal wifi on board you can instagram, email, tweet all from the middle of the ocean, so you can keep up to date whist you sail. If you’re seeking a thrill there’s the North star which goes 300ft above sea level, iFly, a sky diving simulator, a surfing simulator, rock climbing off the side of the ship on top deck if you’re brave enough that is. In the Seaplex, the largest indoor sports complex at sea you will find bumper cars, air hockey, ping pong tables. There’s also many bars to choose from on board, we particularly loved Schooners bar with live piano music, there’s Spectra’s cabaret show, which was incredible and more just waiting to wow you. It wasn’t just entertainment, it felt like an experience.

Relaxing and recharging
One of my favourite places on the ship was the Solarium, a glass canopied room, with palm trees right at the front of the ship with Jacuzzis, the sunshine bar, swimming pools and stunning sea views. There’s even a huge swing right at the front (adults loved this!) This is the ultimate in relaxation, huge comfy chairs, big enough for two, the perfect place to enjoy a few fruit smoothie cocktails. There’s also a spa on board if you fancied treating yourself to a massage or a facial, or if you wanted to try a boot camp, yoga or a Pilate’s class in the fully equipped gym on board to burn off all of those desserts, there’s so many different options, whether you want to just sit back and relax or if you fancy a thrill (like casually rock climbing off the side of the ship) or learning something new, there’s so many different options available.

Amazing, interactive Artwork
Everywhere I looked there was beautiful artwork, in elevators, hallways, ceilings, anywhere and everywhere. The stunning glossy cream corridor with deer artwork which mimicked windows and cherry blossom hanging from the ceiling with enchanting, magical music playing was simply stunning, who knew walking through a corridor could be so beautiful, it was a pleasure to look at and listen to. The huge 200 bulb chandelier was controlled by putting the palm of your hands onto a pad below it, it then lit up and flickered to the sound and rhythm of your heartbeat, how cool?!

    I went on a lot of cruises as a child as my nan and grandad liked to take us on holiday, it seems like cruise ships have become much more high tech than they were when we went! It looks like you had a wonderful time.

    I've never been the one for cruises, but seeing what you posted here make me rethink. Everything looks absolutely fantastic. I'm sure this was a very expensive trip though. Would you say it was worth the money?

    Wow, it looks amazing! Iv never been up to the thought of a cruise until a couple of years ago, it just never really appealed. Im slowly changing my mind though, and this ship looks amazing!

    The pictures are incredible.This cruise ship looks amazing,me and my family go on them all the time and this is one that we would definitely want to try. @nicola you can buy these patches from boots and you just put it behind one of your ears and it takes the sea sickness away and they are really good because you can't see that you have them one
