Post cards from gorgeous Gran Canaria!

I recently visited Gran Canaria. I had previously never thought of it as a holiday destination choice for me… but oh boy, how my mind has changed. We hopped on a direct flight from Leeds Bradford, after indulging in some in-flight plane snacks (aka…A share bag of maletesers to myself totally allowed on holiday am I right?!)  and a few chapters of my book later, we had arrived. Walking up to the luggage carousel I couldn’t believe, I could already see my suitcase!  Easy-peasy. We were greeted by the lovely Carmen who was our transfer to the Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa.Around 25 minutes later we arrived at the hotel, the staff on reception were lovely, check-in was quick and simple and we were on our way up to our room in no time. This was the view from our balcony. Look at that. We overlooked the Gran Canaria Wellness spa, and the impressive Cacti garden, instagram goals much? We freshened up, got changed and headed out to the little village of Puerto Mogan. The village centre and beach was only 750m away which was a real bonus. The hotel grounds and village was full of beautiful vibrant blooms. Puerto de Mogan is also known as ‘Little Venice’ due to the little arches, bridges and waterways leading to the sea. It was so peaceful wandering around the picturesque little village. There’s lots of little bars, shops and restaurants dotted around. We enjoyed a cocktail or two watching the sunset after diner at the hotel. I loved that it wasn’t jam-packed with tourists, there was no hustle and bustle it felt like we had stumbled into a little piece of paradise.The water was so clear, I was quite happy sitting watching the world go by…Here’s what I could actually see..Amazing. Beautiful scenery, friendly people an glorious wall-to-wall sunshine what more could you ask for ?We both commented on how impressed we were with the food choices at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was incredible. I can be a picky eater sometimes but there seriously was something for absolutely everyone. Platters of fresh fruit, every bread you could think of, fish options, cereals, pastries, donuts, pancakes, churros, waffles freshly cooked in-front of you… an industrial sized tub of Nutella! Real bacon, eggs galore, the staff were always so cheerful they made our mornings!

After breakfast we headed to the Wellness Spa…The Wellness spa was incredible, the perfect place to relax and recharge, we had a full body massage which felt unbelievable. Afterwards we had the option to relax and chill out in the spa, you could choose indoor or outdoor, we used both.There is a steam bath, a jacuzzi for a hydro massage in the glorious sunshine, there is also themed showers, a helarium power shower, a biothermic shower and a contrast cabin. My favourite part of the wellness spa was the flotarium pool, the water is charged full of magnesium salts so you float! It was absolutely amazing to just float on my back around the pool in the gorgeous sunny weather. There’s also the option to chill out and read a magazine or sunbathe on the sun loungers or canopy beds.After a spot of pampering we headed to the hotel pool to cool off, before heading back to the room for dinner. The dinner buffet was even better than breakfast. I have been to many a all-inclusive, we stayed half board plus at this hotel and I can honestly say this is the best dinner buffet I have been to. There was five different options of pizza, steaks galore, canapés, lots of meat and fish dishes, absolutely everything you could think of! Don’t get me started on the three tables of desserts including a giant chocolate fountain! Heaven.

Will you be visiting Gran Canaria? We would go back tomorrow! We felt so lucky to have such a fantastic relaxing holiday, boiling hot weather, great food, flights, hotel and people… in one word perfect. I hope you enjoyed my post cards from Gran Canaria!
