huggie bear biscuits.

I found the idea for this recipe whilst trawling through pinterest, wasting hours of my life, pinning cute stuff (you know, as you do) but it turns out it was from a Japanese website, the original video can be found here the recipe used ingredients such as cornstarch and beetroot oil, I didn’t have any of these items in my cupboards, so I just used my classic sugar cookie recipe. A dough recipe which won’t spread or lose it’s shape whilst baking in the oven, perfect for use with cookie cutters.
Here’s what you will need:
1x teddy shaped cookie cutter (I bought mine from here)
1 small bag of almonds
1 large, fresh egg
1 tsp of vanilla essence
100g of unsalted butter
100g of caster sugar
275g of plain flour

Pre hear the oven to 190 degrees. Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper, in a large bowl mix the egg, sugar, butter and vanilla essence until it’s combined together. Gently sift in the flour and mix well, the dough should start to form into a ball. Sprinkle the work top with a light covering of flour, take a rolling pin and roll out the dough onto the worktop. Then use your cookie cutter to cut out the bears. I used a sharp object to make their eyes and a nose, you can add a smile if you want, it’s up to you.

Place the bears gently on the baking tray, then take an almond and fold their hands over the almond. Cookies, shaped like bears, hugging almonds, what’s not to love? So cute. Pop them in the oven to bake for around 8-9 minutes. I left mine in for 10 and they were a little burnt, keep an eye on them…

Take them out of the oven, leave them on a wire rack to cool for a while, then eat and enjoy…

Sure, some of them have slightly burned paws and misshapen feet, but the main thing is they are so simple and quick to make not to mention tasty and cute, right? What do you guys think?
