Create a desk makeover on a tiny budget

I love sprucing up areas of my home every now and again  and giving them a new look and a new feel, without breaking the bank, it’s so easy to do by using things that you already have or knowing where to look when buying homeware accessories. It’s amazing how a few small changes
can really make a difference. Here’s how you can create a desk makeover on a tiny budget.Create a desk makeover on a tiny budgetUsing what you already have –
Switch things up a little, I found a tin of white paint in the garage, my desk was looking faded and more of a cream colour, so I gave it a fresh lick of white paint and it now looks clean, bright and new. I use old photo frames, with chic cut-outs from magazines like a Chanel or Dior advert, or you could even print off some of your favourite inspirational quotes from Pinterest to have on your desk. Who doesn’t love a good quote?! If you don’t fancy getting your hands dirty, you can buy marble print adhesive wallpaper from eBay, that you can just place over the top of your desk, an old blogger favourite, cheap yet chic!
flowers
Spending wisely –
These orange roses cost me just £2.00 (I split them into two bunches, the other vase is downstairs) they were reduced in Tesco usually these will last me around seven days before they start to look a little sorry for themselves, you can also find gorgeous fresh flowers in Lidl and Aldi at bargain prices. If you want something that lasts a little longer for your money, The Range stock a stunning selection of silk fake flowers, which can look just as good as real flowers (and they don’t die on you, bonus!)
the white company winter
Trinkets to accessorize –
Make your desk personal to you, the vase you see the orange roses in, was from a lovely bath salt gift set my mum bought me one time, now it makes a pretty little vase, so I am glad I didn’t throw it away. Books, candles, notebooks and  little trinkets all make cute desk accessories and they are interchangeable so you can swap and change them whenever you like.
girl boss mug
I love novelty mugs, I simply cannot fit enough of them in my cupboards, seriously. This ‘Girl Boss’ mug was down to £6.00 from £9.00 in the sale from Urban Outfitters, I used a code and received free delivery so its worth shopping around online, as I saved myself the £3.99 shipping fee. Mugs aren’t just for coffee, or in my case, hot chocolate, use them to store pens, pencils, nail files, make up brushes sweet wrappers and any other bits and bobs, pretty glass candle holders are also great for this too once you’ve burnt the candle completely, of course!

What do you think of my desk space? Do you have any frugal tips or tricks you’d like to share? Please let me know in a comment.

I love this! I really need to spruce up lots of areas in my home. I am hoping to put together a gallery wall soon, and a new lick of paint. I love Aldi flowers – and if I can – I try and get to our local market to buy flowers. Great blog. Found you on Bloglovin’

You have such a lovely desk space that looks like the perfect environment to work in. I too love finding cheap yet cheerful budget trinkets to pop in and around my bedroom, I find that it adds so much more character and personality to a space!

I love this – your space looks really lovely! I always think there is nothing like a nice bunch of flowers to add a little something to a space! Flowers always make me smile when I see them too so that’s a bonus. I also really like the idea of using nice cups for something different – then they’re not hidden away in the cup cupboard waiting to be used!

    Beautiful blog!

These are some great ideas and I need a good desk revamp. I might have to try the fake flower technique myself.

Your home décor is always utter perfection Becky so I love reading these kinds of posts! I’m currently in the process of making my own desk hence why I’ve never gotten around to covering my current one in all its ugly beech laminate glory with a pretty vinyl (ah marble, every blogger’s obsession). Once the desk is finished I can’t wait to make it my own with some Pinspiration, candles and stylish stationery of course (wow, I really am a walking cliché…)!

Hope you’re having a wonderful 2016 so far,

Cute desk and mug! I love how crisp and clean everything looks. I have to work with a dorm desk right now, so it can sometimes be a struggle to make it look beautiful.

Your desk looks so pretty! I love arranging my desk and making it look nice and neat but it doesn’t stay like that for very long haha 😀 as soon as I have something like uni work to do it turns into a right mess and everything goes everywhere. It won’t stop me from arranging it again though, a room looks a lot prettier with a tidy desk I think! 🙂
    Love,

Lovely ideas Becky! I must say, my desk could use a bit of sprucing up, so maybe I’ll make that my project for the month ahead. If you have any tips for maximizing space and making the most out of a small desk, I’d love to hear them as mine is quite tiny!

I love these ideas and your little desk space. My favourite thing to do is to take old jam jars and paint the inside of them with a pastel or white paint, using a tester pot or paint from a DIY shop, they then make really pretty pen pots, or little vases.
Looking forward to seeing lots more of your posts in 2016, think I’ve read every single post of yours now!

My ‘desk’ is an elderly oak dining table that has seen far better days. The varnish is flaking off, there are water marks and a bit missing from one corner where the parrot bit it off. I’ve never really given it any thought. It’s just where I work.

Now, I realise how dingy it looks. It just happens that there is a tin of chalk paint in a pretty pastel green in the cupboard. While I’m hopeless at DIY, even I can manage chalk paint.

    New year, new desk. 🙂

    Thanks for inspiring me.

These are such cute little touches I’m definitely going to mimic!!

I’m currently using fake pink roses that I bought for a few quid from Dunelm, they’re working well for me because they don’t die! (I struggle keeping plants alive). Love the idea of a chic magazine cutting! I’m planning a new craft project to make a rose gold clipboard as a frame for this type of thing at the minute.

    Lots of love!
