Okay so..these don’t look pretty, I’m not going to lie but they do taste incredible. So don’t judge this book by it’s cover just yet.. I spotted the recipe for these whilst browsing Pinterest one night from sweet eats but I changed one or two things slightly flavour wise. It was an american website (I think) so they used measuring cups. Thankfully my mum had a set laying about in her cupboard! I think I’m going to buy my own to use in the future as I did find using them easier and quicker for some reason. Anyways here’s how I made these super chocolate-y treats. .These brownies were made from scratch.. very easy and very simple to follow besides if I can do it I’m sure you can!
What you will need
1 and a 1/2 cup of butter, 1 and 1/2 cups of sugar, 2 eggs, 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 1 and 1/4 cups of plain flour, a pinch of salt, 2 cups of chocolate chips, 2 packets of oreo biscuits,
Pre heat the oven to 180. Whisk the butter and sugar in a bowl until it is nice and fluffy. Add in the 2 eggs and 3 generous spoonfuls of cocoa powder continue mixing until they’re all combined. Stir in flour until the mixture is nice and smooth, add a dash of salt. Then throw a load of chocolate chips in there!
Spread the mixture evenly into a very well greased dish then gently place 9 brownies in the mix, like a chocolate blanket. Try to resist licking the spoon at this point. Pop it in the oven for around 25-30 minutes. Whilst it’s cooking it’s time to crumble up the rest of the oreos like so..I just broke them up with my hands.
After 25-30 minutes check on the mixture, take it out of the oven sprinkle it with bits of broken up oreos and the remaining left over chocolate chips. Place back in the oven for 3 minutes. In the mean time melt 3-4 bars of chocolate in the microwave..then take out the dish and cover the whole thing in a layer of melted chocolate.
Press down firmly with the back of a spoon so that the three layers merge together. The melted chocolate is acting as glue. If you like you can wait for it to cool and eat it whilst its a warm gooey mess, I refrigerated it for 2 hours which turned into over night because I forgot about them oops. It was like a brick to cut this morning but so worth it..
Lets be honest these won’t win any prizes for looks or presentation. They were pretty hard to photograph but sometimes its more about taste and texture than what something looks like. The minute you bite into these and you sink your teeth into the chocolate and you’re greeted with both the chewy, gooey brownie and crunchy biscuit you forget all about what they look like. You will certainly need something to wash these down with either a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of ice cold milk! What do you think?
