My super thoughtful boyfriend planned a surprise trip to The Cotswolds for my birthday last week. The Cotswolds is somewhere I have always wanted to visit and despite it only being 3 and a half hours away I had never been. I was so excited when I was told where we were going, I couldn’t believe he’d planned, researched and booked it all himself, hashtag keeper.
Armed with sufficient car snacks and Spotify we set off on the journey, after driving through numerous quaint little villages we turned down a long winding road and pulled up to the most beautiful farmhouse cottage. Boy did good, boy did real good. I will share my snaps of the cottage in my next post as I wanted to mainly share the photos I took on my little Olympus pen. I don’t like it when iPhone photos and camera photos are mixed, I hope you don’t mind.
We checked in at 4pm, pottered around for a bit, put a pizza in the oven, out of office on and chilled out for the evening. The next morning we headed to Bourton-on-The-Water affectionately known as the Venice of The Cotswolds. There’s quite a bit to see and do here with gift shops galore, cute cafe’s on every corner, the car museum and the model village. For breakfast we headed to Bakery on the water, I chose a cupcake and my boyfriend got a bacon sandwich and a huge slice of Victoria sponge cake, 10/10 for taste cannot recommend this family run bakery enough. If you can’t eat cake for breakfast on your birthday then when can you?! You may recognise this little guy from my Instagram stories, the happiest puppy in the world was waiting outside for it’s owners, so of course I ran over and gave it some much needed attention. I wanted to keep him, he was adorable. A cupcake and a puppy? 29 wasn’t looking to shabby at this point. I loved walking around the picturesque towns and villages, the weather was lovely we got pretty lucky as it was mainly sunny and no rain. The blossom trees just added to the beauty of The Cotswold cottages. I felt like I never wanted to put my camera down, chocolate box cottages galore, pretty window boxes full of Spring blooms, the cutest bakeries. I love that the majority of the towns and villages were all only a 25 minute drive from each other, we visited Stow-On-The-Wold, Burford, Bibury and more. We visited during the week and I think we were lucky as everywhere was a little quieter than usual. I had the best birthday ever, I can’t wait to share some more personal snaps from my iPhone with you in the next post and share our little home for the week with you guys.
