How to get your home ready for Christmas

fa la la festive mugYou know it’s almost Christmas when I’m a celeb is on the telly and the Coca Cola advert comes on! I have already started on a tin of Quality Street, and as we are busy the next few weekends the decorations are already up, well most of them! Here’s how to get your home ready for Christmas

As it is dark and dreary from 3 pm onwards these days, I like to bring as much light into my home as possible. I stock up on lots of scented candles, in fragrances like cinnamon & apple, Christmas cookie, pine tree etc. These scents add warmth to the home and make the place feel cosy. Fairy lights are also a great way to add a cosy feel to the home. They aren’t just for around the tree, take festive garland and wrap some twinkling lights around it. I sometimes put battery-powered lights in pretty festive vases, to brighten up a dark corner.

Laura Ashley kindly gifted me this super-soft velour cranberry throw, it’s so plush and thick, Oscar has already claimed it as his own! I can’t wait to be all cosy under this on Christmas Day, watching the Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special!

Festive or novelty mugs are a nice way for bringing festive cheer into the kitchen. I am such a sucker for a hot chocolate in the cold winter months, I think I have one a day at the minute. I love adding different flavoured syrups, Christmas marshmallows (home bargains so some super cute Christmas tree ones!) and of course, lots of whipped cream.

I have just ordered a Merry Christmas bunting off Amazon, to go above the TV. If you aren’t a fan of candles, diffusers are a good way to bring festive scents into your home. My dad bought me this White Company ‘fir tree’ reed diffuser set last year, I’ve popped it next to the Christmas tree, it smells heavenly! Primark also does some more budget-friendly options, I buy a few and put them in the bathrooms as the scents are really strong and they last ages!

Oscar has got the right idea–just wrap yourself in a blanket! 😀 <3 // I loooove candles. My favourite ones are the ones that smell like baked goods. I'll burn them all year round, but they're particularly suitable for the festive season! The only thing is that all my candles are different scents, so I probably shouldn't light too many at one time, even though I'd like to :3 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
