I am by no means the biggest or most successful blogger in the blogosphere whatsoever, but I do get asked this question quite a bit from bloggers who are just starting out or people wanting to create a blog. So I thought why not write a post about it instead? See below for my 25 simple tips on growing your blog, I hope they are helpful!
Enjoy your blog, be passionate in creating content you and your readers will enjoy.
Consistency is key. Stick to a realistic schedule that works for you.
Don’t give up at the first hurdle, stick at it. Loyal readers don’t happen overnight.
Share your posts on social media, such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
Scheduling tweets in advance can be good but don’t over-do it, nobody likes spam!
Interact in twitter chats, you can make your blog known and find new blogs and bloggers.
Engage! Leave genuine comments on content you enjoy, don’t just self promote!
Make sure your blog design is easy to read and navigate on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Be yourself, let your personality shine through your writing and blog photography.
Create ‘pinterest friendly’ images, with eye capturing titles that will make readers want to ‘pin it’
Try and have the same username (or similar) across all social media channels so you are easy to find!
Reply and respond when you can, interact with people in the comment section and social media.
Be a nice human, retweet that bloggers post, support sponsored content and affiliate links.
Make sure your blog loads fast, slow landing page? Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Don’t save your blog images as jdhghysv.jpg use relative keywords.
High quality pictures aren’t 100% necessary but they do help and look pretty.
Have sharing buttons at the bottom of each post more shares = more views.
Write about whatever you want, it’s your blog. If you want a certain aesthetic that’s fine you can be as polished and magazine-esque as you like or you can share the warts and all aspect of your life and be relatable, you will have readers either way. Everyone is different.
Have similar posts or a ‘posts you may like’ at the bottom of content or in your sidebar.
Pay. Nowadays you can pay to have promoted posts or adverts of your blog on popular social media sites such as Facebook and instagram. Whilst this is an option you don’t need to do it at all you can gain loyal readers and followers simply through creating consistent content and putting yourself out there!
Refresh and update old content, to bring it up to date!
Attend blogger events and meet-ups, or even better host them!
To celebrate blog or reader milestones, give something back, host a giveaway or a competition.
Claim your blog over on Bloglovin’ where posts will be pinged over there when you publish and readers can ‘love’ and ‘save’ your posts to read for later!
